SALESIANS OF DON BOSCO

The Salesians of Don Bosco”is an international society founded by St. John Bosco popularly known as Don Bosco. Catholic priests and Brothers who are members of the Society known as the Salesians of Don Bosco (SDB) work for the development and education of the young especially those at most risk. There are around 15,000 institutions that are being run by the Salesians, all over the world. Through its 3000 Schools, Colleges, Technical schools and youth centers in 136 countries, the Salesians of Don Bosco serve all young people irrespective of religious differences or social inequalities. The system of education imparted at educational institutions run by Salesians are based on the principles of Don Bosco’s Preventive System, i.e., reason, religion and loving-kindness. The Rector Major (also known as successor of Don Bosco) is the head of all institutes of the Salesians of Don Bosco. The present Rector Major is Ángel Fernández Artime (since 24 March 2014)

The Past Pupils of Don Bosco

The Past Pupils of Don Bosco had its origin in 1870 at Turin, Italy. Currently it is a worldwide organisation with alumni units under it spread over more than 100 nations. It is the largest alumni organisation in the world. It is unlike any other alumni organisation in its spread and reach. The apex body of the organisation at international level is called the World Confederation of the Past Pupils of Don Bosco. In India, the apex body is Indian National Federation of the Past Pupils of Don Bosco. There are around 11 Provincial Federations under the Indian National Federation. School/college/institutional level alumni units come under respective Provincial Federation. Unit level organisations in each State are affiliated to the National and International organisations through Provincial Federations. Alumni units of educational institutions in Kerala and Karnataka states come under the Bangalore Provincial Federation. The organisation is being guided by the spirit of St. John Bosco and by its Statutes. The vision of the organisation is: Work to help Past Pupils of Don Bosco become “Salt of the earth and light of the world”. The organisation is built upon the core values of “Life, Freedom, Truth, Solidarity, Fraternity and Communion”.
